Actually there were many more sources, but I really like GSMArena's take on this matter.
In short, Apple's suing Samsung for infringing their "innovative" designs of iDevices, both hardware and software. Let's not mind that they blatantly ripped off nearly every phone in existence before they even thought about entering the mobile market. Especially LG phones.
“The copying is so pervasive, that the Samsung Galaxy products appear to be actual Apple products — with the same rectangular shape with rounded corners, silver edging, a flat surface face with substantial top and bottom black borders, gently curving edges on the back, and a display of colorful square icons with rounded corners,” the complaint says."

So, to not infringe Apple's wonderful and innovative ideas, everybody else's phones must be triangular/pentagonal/hexagonal with sharp corners, gold edging, curved/spiked surface with shining insignificant top and bottom borders, sharp pointed edges at the back, and a display of triangular black&white icons with sharp edges.
